Such a great day today. Lu and i were escorted away on a surprise adventure by Papi (Dan). He took us to see the tulips in bloom out in Mount Vernon. No tulips - but the bright shock if the daffodils were gorgeous. Lu been fighting something for a fee days and today it hit hard. She had a fever, watery eyes, sneezing ... The works. We figured her napping in the car would be ok while we drove around the fields checking out the beauty and talking about our dreams of traveling to far off destinations. She enjoyed the ride for a while before passing out. She woke up just in time to see the fields. She loved it. We took a quick walk around in the field before she wanted to sit down in the car again. This coming from the girl who during her last two fevers could run a marathon. Completely different girl today. She napped 3 times! Poor girl. And her little sweet eyes are so red and swollen and raw from running the tears away that constantly were running down her cheeks.
Riding in the car on adventures is one of my favorite things. It has been since I was a child. We spent many weekends in the car. New towns, different meals, and I'm sure many arguements amongst the kiddos. Dan knows the way to my heart and loves to surprise me with little adventures like this. I love that it was important to me as a kid and Dan continues to make it important to us as a couple and now we are able to share that importance with Luka. We always have the best conversations. It's grounding, awe inspiring, humbling, and full of fun. I just love it.
Here's a few pictures from our day.
Our sweet babe was too tired to color her eggs so grandma Easter bunny and mama Easter bunny did the work for her. Here's to hoping she feels well enough to have a hunt in the morning. Check out these gorgeous eggs! All we had was brown eggs and we made our own dye! Super cool colors!
